Dr. William Caldwell and Dr. Melody Cassels

Dr. Caldwell and Dr. Cassels offer excellent pediatric care to the children of Austin, Texas

Dr. Caldwell was born in Maryland, but has spent most of his life in Texas. He has been in the Austin area for over thirty years. He is married with five children of varying ages.

Dr. Caldwell received both his bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He then served a two-year duty in the Army during the Vietnam crisis. After fulfilling his Army duty, he attended medical school and graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. During medical school, he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Caldwell then served a three-year pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital through the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Upon completion of his professional training, he entered active pediatric practice in Austin.

Dr. Caldwell is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County Medical Society, and the Texas Pediatric Society. In 1996-1997 and 2001-2011 Dr. Caldwell has been selected to “The Best Doctors in America.” He also has been selected for “The Super Doctors” in Texas Monthly for 2004-2011. Additionally, he has been in Austin Monthly’s “Best Doctors” in 2007-2012.

As an active member of the general and medical community, Dr. Caldwell has participated in numerous civic and professional organizations in both committee and leadership positions. Dr. Caldwell is a Clinical Instructor of the University of Texas Medical Branch, and is actively involved in teaching third year medical students clinical pediatrics. He is a delegate to the Texas Medical Association and was recently elected to the Board of Counselors (Ethics) to the Texas Medical Association. He served as medical advisor and director to the Marywood Adoption Agency for ten years. He has donated medical care to the indigent population through the Caritas Clinic. He has served as Chief of Pediatric at Seton Medical Center for two years. He is a member of the Travis County Medical Society Legislative Committee.

A native Texan, Dr. Cassels graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in the university honors program. She went on to get her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. She is married with three young children.

Her medical training was completed in Phoenix, Arizona, mostly at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Banner Good Samaritan Hospital. She completed a dual-specialty residency allowing her to practice in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

Dr. Cassels is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Texas Medical Association and the Travis County Medical Society.

Dr. Cassels enjoys being active in community service. She spent several years as a volunteer on the medical staff at the Texas Lions Club diabetes camp. In Phoenix, she worked in a clinic designed specifically for special needs children and children with complex medical issues.

As a board certified physician, Dr. Cassels enjoys providing outstanding care to children from newborns to young adults. She also likes to utilize her Internal Medicine training to provide primary care to adolescents as they transition into their college age years.
